This is my top 10 ways to save money on a tight budget. How did I come to this list? Practice and experiencing a shrinking bank account and knowing it needs restoration. With children’s needs, food budgets, and everyday living expenses.
10. Entertainment: Redbox and Netflix save money
Netflix is ultimately the most affordable way to tackle entertainment. It not only can be streamed into your living room but delivered to your doorstep. For 7.99$ you can have unlimited movies and TV delivered to you. The price is fixed therefore if it works in your budget it is a choice. Redbox is a greatest choice in my opinion. Why? 1.29$ per night and the price can be altered. How? When you sign up Rebox sends you .50$ off weekend codes, promotional choices, and updates. You can also sign up for ShopKicks which allows you to earn points to get free movie rentals.
9. Clothing: Swaps, Secondhand, Clearance shopping save money
Buying secondhand can allow your family save the difference in price you will have when buying used clothes. The difference can help fund educational goals or saving goals. Clothing swaps can be a free way to exchange clothing, toys, and baby gear with your community. Buying clearance only can help buy new clothes without the new clothes price tag.
Couponing can be a major money saving idea. Combining sales, clearance, and stacking manufacturer’s coupons with store coupon can yield big savings.

5. Plastic Bags
Everyone knows bringing a reusable bag has become an industry all its own. Designer grocery bags are sold at every counter these days. However they are not the only way of saving plastic. Reusing the plastic bags cereal comes in is another. Those thick plastic bags are ideal for wrapping freezer items in before freezing. They are also handy counter garbage bags while cooking. Bread bags and newspaper bags can also come in handy while walking your four legged friend.
4. The “F” Word
Frozen. I know we discussed food but we did not discuss frozen food. Why is this food staple important? It takes loads of time to expire and is convenient when it is needed. Frozen foods have all of their nutrients and while using them you will save on the wasted food ends.( IE saving cash on the peel, core, and the seeds. )
3.The Dollar Store saves
The Dollar Store is my new best-y. Why? Its the Dollar Store… because everything is a dollar. The Dollar Tree chain accepts manufacturers coupons which can make necessities free. You can also find a lot of basics like paper, crayons, coloring books, tin foil, dish soap, and garbage bags. All of which at the great price of a dollar.
2. The infamous “B” word to save money
Budget. Budgeting makes saving, spending, and having money a comfortable and effective way to manage an income. Setting up a family budget for you and your spouse makes handling money easier. It diminishes the “after the month” disappointment felt after excessive spending. Knowing where your money is going makes sure you have a final sale not a clearance sale.
1. Just say…
No. Just say no when it comes to spending. The easiest way to save on everything is say no. The process of saying no is hard enough, just buying what you need and saving what you can on them. Making proactive choices when it comes to spending can also help your cash flow in your budget.
