Lets talk math for a moment. It is by far not my favorite subject, I cannot pretend it is. I am not very good at it as a general observation. Honestly, it makes me sad to know I cannot remember simple algebra or even… well that list is very long and mildly depressing. Therefore, teaching it makes me a bit nervous. I have invested in math workbooks from Kumon and have looked at other forms of math-teaching-workbook styles(Singapore math anyone?). Kumon’s workbooks are affordable and widely available. I feel they do a decent job at teaching each basic math unit up to pre-algebra. However, I have found a great online resource many of you might already know about. I heard about it awhile ago but never investigated it further. Today I did and found it most appealing, The Khan Academy. It has online math tutoring, math tests, and videos teaching the unit you are learning. It also has science and some humanities as well. I feel after viewing it the science is definitely for 9th grader plus learning biology. I have also learned about Math Planet which is specifically for high school math such as algebra and geometry.
