Homeschooling Methods, part 1 : Who is Charlotte Mason?
She was a British educator who lived between 1842-192. Her mission in life was to improve education and her method of education involves teaching through Living Books. She encouraged students to be outside as well. The method implements copy work to teach spelling and handwriting skills. Of course for the time period she crafted her methodology religious ideals and work was of great importance. This is still present in some of the materials they offer. However, if you do not adhere to the religious principals you can still use the method effectively. In addition handicrafts like knitting were and are still import skills taught. Books that they include on their book lists are: E.B. White’s many titles, Winnie the Pooh, Laura Ingalls, and Mark Twain.
